Becky Johnson presents to you her artistic vision “Empire”. Becky is an artistic creator of 20+ years in the industry. She has had international, advanced, master and executive training from some of the top ten world renowned artists and educators.
Becky has also mentored stylists and educated all over the United States as a platform artist and educator for Joico International. Her passion is limitless, with a determination to polish stylists into creative artists, forever evolving on a daily basis to create a thirst for more knowledge.

Kristie Hartunian Gowan
Hair and makeup artist, Kristie Hartunian Gowan, originally from Jackson, TN, graduated cosmetology here in Memphis at the Beauty Institute in 2008. Although Kristie has only been a hair artist for 7 years and a makeup artist for 12, it has been her passion from a very young age. Kristie’s work has been featured in many commercials, music videos, photography, and short films both in and out of the Memphis area. Kristie’s specialty is designing the perfect cut and color for your face shape and personality.
Connie graduated from Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology in 2008 and has been an employee of Empire since 2011. She highly values listening to her client’s needs for their everyday hair care. She enjoys creating the key style and color that fits her client’s wants and needs. Her salon experience has continued to enhance her education in hair. Through the family of Empire and product knowledge classes, her passion for hair art continues to grow.
Dara Garbuzinski has been waving her magic wand over heads in Memphians for 20 years. Her skills in cutting and coloring are classic, yet innovative.
Dara has a passion for all things vintage! Her love for Pin Up has influenced hair
styling and makeup application and promoted great proficiency while working
with bridal parties.
Trained in Coppola Keratin treatments, Joico and Wella color lines, Dara will keep
you looking and feeling fresh and fabulous.
Becca Pruitt is apprenticing here at Empire. She graduated from Paul Mitchell cosmetology school in July of 2013. She is currently working as an assistant to all the stylists while gaining valuable knowledge and experience. She hopes to advance to a Jr. Stylist position in the near future.
Living in the Cooper-Young neighborhood, the heart of midtown Memphis, Tricia has been rocking out style in the Mid-South for the past 17 years. Tricia had the opportunity to study with the design workshop at the Bumble and Bumble University (House of Bumble) in New York City. Bringing what she learned on the fashion forefront with her to Mid-South Memphis, she continues to improve her techniques and style. Her current certifications include Global Keratin Smoothing Treatments and Hairdreams Extensions. She continues her education with Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, Pureology, and Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy. With Salon Manager at Gould’s Day Spa at the famous Peabody Hotel under her belt, Tricia is always finding a way to be educated on the newest techniques and products.
Meet Jeni Sanders – she is originally from Memphis but developed her professional skills in San Diego by studying & graduating from the prestigious Paul Mitchell The School in 2007 and further refining her skills at the nationally acclaimed salon – Gila Rut. While her speciality is coloring; since her graduation, she has been mastering cutting and other high end techniques that define her as one of the rising stars in this industry.
Shawn is a highly educated On Trend stylist with 20+ years of experience. He has advanced training in all forms of color, personally customized highlights, cutting edge cuts and styles as well as re-texturizing systems. Above all he believes in listening to the needs of his clients.
Frankie gave his first haircut at the age of 5. Once he heard that his client had the prettiest little bob anyone had ever seen, he broke his promise to his mother to never cut hair again. Hair styling has been his passion ever since.
Chelsea graduated from Paul Mitchell The School Memphis in July 2014 and completed an apprenticeship under studio owner Becky J. in October 2015. In addition to her apprenticeship, Chelsea gained experience as a freelance and M.A.C. Makeup Artist. Her work has been featured in film, photography, print and the internet! She values the education, inspiration and creativity of every Empire stylist she works with, and takes pride in her ability to listen and execute individual clients needs.
Shelby Ross is currently a receptionist here at Empire. She graduated from Gould’s Academy in November, 2013. She is soon to become an assistant to the Empire stylists. She looks forward to learning something unique from each creative stylist, and hopeful to become a part of the artistic team herself.
Gabby Thompson is a recent graduate of the prestigious Paul Mitchell School of Memphis. Since graduating (with honors), she is apprenticing at Empire, learning new techniques, developing her talent, and honing her creative technique with Empire.
